Dear NEDATS Members,
We are delighted to share a recap of the highly successful 2025 Eid Gala and Scholarship Distribution event held on April 26th, 2024, at the Teaneck Marriott at Glenpointe. The event, organized by the NED Alumni Association of Tri State, aimed to celebrate Eid while recognizing and rewarding the academic achievements of deserving students through the distribution of scholarships.

With over 200 attendees, the event attracted a diverse audience, including students, parents, educators, community leaders and representatives from sponsoring organizations and academic institutions.
The highlight of the event was the scholarship awards ceremony, where 12 merit-based scholarships were presented to deserving students. Each award was distributed by our honorary guests, including Eric Macfarlane, P.E First Deputy Commissioner of the NYC Department of Design & Construction (NYCDDC), Rizwan Baig, P.E Chief Engineer of the Port Authority of NY & NJ, Thomas Wynne, P.E Deputy Commissioner of Infrastructure at NYCDDC and Paul Schwartz, P.E Deputy Commissioner of Bridges at NYC Department of Transportation.
Additionally, Mr. Badar Bhatti (EE ’76) was honored with the “Lifetime Achievement Award” for his significant contributions NEDATS and NED Alumni Community. His dedication, passion and exceptional leadership not only shows his outstanding efforts but also inspires others to follow his footsteps and continue the important work of building stronger, more vibrant communities.
The event also featured a keynote address by Dr. Samra Zafar, renowned speaker, and a captivating performance by Shiraz Uppal, entertaining audiences of all ages.
Overall, the 2025 Eid Gala and Scholarship Distribution Function was a meaningful and impactful event, bringing together the community to celebrate Eid while providing crucial support to deserving students through scholarships.
